Hello,

I'm a medical student (4th year) in Valencia, Venezuela.

I'm planning to visit the US (NJ specifically) next January for vacations. But i wanted to enjoy my time by learning some things in this city. I was wondering if there was an University, hospital or some place where i can go, and get access to some classes, or information, maybe some short-internship for foreign students, i just wanted to use my vacations to meet the city and the medical system over there.

Thank you very much for your help.

Robert Wood Johnson is the only medical school in New Jersey. If you're close to New York City, there are many more - NYU, Columbia, Albert Einstein, SUNY Downstate, Cornell.

However, if you're hoping to just show up and just start doing stuff in the hospital, you may be disappointed. You've got to apply for a rotation beforehand, provide a great deal of documentation, and sort out your malpractice insurance situation. US medical students generally get covered reciprocally during away rotations, but as an international student I doubt you'd be covered, and buying out of pocket could cost a few thousand dollars US.

You may be able to sit in on some undergraduate classes, but medical schools aren't usually known for letting non-medical students sit in on medical school classes.
