Hi Everyone!

I am putting together my application for a forensics fellowship, but I am a little worried about being late since applications opened up in January. Does anyone know how competitive forensics generally is, or does anyone know if programs have already sent out interviews? I plan on applying to MGH, Case Western, NYU, Penn, Columbia, Yale, and UCLA. Thank you!!

The top programs maybe competitive. Many others are not. As fellowships are small, it could be hit or miss depending on the year.

You're missing Davis, arguably one of the top 1-3 programs in the country (I'm not biased, I went to a different unnamed very competitive program).

Although I would definitely get applications in now, as in maybe a month ago, and if a top program is really important to you, it may be necessary to reapply next year (top program interview slots may have already filled up). I think it's not too late but it could be depending on the program.

I am planning on applying in the next week or so. Am I screwed?

It doesn't hurt to call or send an email to a program you're interested in. Offers are made on a rolling basis, unlike the Match.
Even with virtual interviews allowing applicants to save money on travel, some may release their other interviews after accepting an early offer.

Yeah I did email about 10 days ago notifying my intent to apply. I told them I’d have it in 14 days. Got responses so that was good.
I understand interviews don’t start until April, so that’s what I was banking on.

Interviews don't start until April but people have gotten invitations to interview. Emailing to reach out to programs is great and that way they are aware of your application but I definitely would make sure to get in applications soon.

Wow I feel dumb. I'm a third year psych resident, I am only recently interested in Forensics. Am I too late to the game?

edit: And recent I mean maybe within the last month or two

Yes someone in my program said he got an nyu interview. Which program in nyc do you think is best? What are some top programs to apply to for me next year?
