I really haven't been part of the forum, but have been reading some stuff on it this past week... anyway, I took the DAT on the 27th and I'm really excited to have it in the past. Plus, it went really well:

PAT 24
QR 21
RC 21
BIO 20
GC 29
OC 23
TOT SCI 23
AA 23

One interesting thing, though, was that in the QR section, there were two different problems that, if taken as written, did not have a correct answer. In both, parenthesis were omitted from the equations given! I spend extra time on those questions trying to figure out what was going on (they were just simple algebra questions), which makes me made, because if they had not been incorrectly written I would have had more time to spend on a few others that I had trouble with. Has anyone else had similar problems on the DAT?

wow wow. some more classic sdn killer scores. 🙂

great job. I'm curious as well to your resources.

Did anything else about QR surprise you or catch you off guard?

I did. I purposely stayed on a couple of questions to prove there was no answer just like you have. No one believed me but I believe you.

I wouldn' worry about the problems with no answers. If you got them wrong, I'm sure alot of other people did also. Your scores are good so no worries.

Amazing scores, nice job, u did what u had to do now ur time is to relax and enjoy the summer. Good Luck!!!!

Rather than writing back all the people that have messaged me privately, I'm going to write what I did on this thread. I'm not sure how much help it will be, but here it goes:

As far as study time, I began studying in mid-May after I was finished with college for the year. I should note, though, that I had been taking biology, organic chemistry, cell biology, and genetics the last semester, so I had learned lots of the science material pretty recently. Anyway, I probably only spent an average of 1 hour a day studying until the middle of July. For the last two weeks, I put in 3-4 hours a day.

For studying, I used primarily the Kaplan book. I read through it once, highlighting the things I was less familiar with. Then, I took a topscore test after I had gone through the book once. After this, I studied the things I had highlighted in the Kaplan book, as well as the topics I answered incorrectly on the topscore test. Then, another topscore test, and more reviewing of the material I got wrong. Basically, this is what I did until the test. Really, the only other study aids I used were some flashcards I had made from organic chemistry, just to go over the reactions.

Having taken the test, I realize that the biology section in Kaplan is definitely not enough... there were several questions that had things never covered in the Kaplan book. (I see that many people have found the Kaplan book to not be the greatest for biology, but I only found this forum last week, so I didn't have time to get any other recommended study books.)

General chemistry required fewer calculations than the practice tests, and was pretty straightforward I thought. Organic was about as I expected.

The PAT angle ranking section was definitely harder than the topscore and Kaplan practice stuff. The apertures were also probably a bit harder on the actual DAT.

I thought the QR section was just as I expected, except for the problems without correct answers like I wrote about in my first post. There were some word problems, but nothing too hard or out of the ordinary.

Hope this helps. I don't have any new and unique study tips, but this is what I did and it worked for me!

Great Scores....I'm sure you'r in...One big load of your chest...Good luck with the rest of the proces..

man you rocked the GenChem section.. i think you got all of them right..
beautiful scores..
you're in man..
enjoy the rest of summer

Thanks. Yeah, I'm going to try my best to enjoy the rest of the summer, and the next two years too! I still have two years left of undergrad... I took the DAT earlier because I had taken the prerequisites and just wanted to have it over with!
