I know a lot of people get chastised when they ask questions like "am i late if i submit AMCAS in july?" etc, but now i understand their concern because i have a little similar question.

for rolling schools that have already started giving out interviews for end of august and september, is it considered late (for yourself, not others that havent gotten invites yet) if i schedule my interviews mid to late october? i've gotten 5 interviews so far, 2 will be in september (baylor and wright state) but the rest i have to do throughout october. any thoughts? again, forgive the dumb question. go ahead and chastise.

EDIT: the 3 i have to do in october are by my choice. I am leaving my job at the end of september; i didnt want to work around my work schedule for the interviews and just do them whenever.

Yes, while you're busy scheduling your 3 October interviews, I am waiting for my first one.

HONESTLY?! HONESTLY?! Interviews go till March, and you're asking if you're late in Month 2?! HONESTLY?!

Some people haven't sent in their Primaries yet, and you're going on 5 interviews with October being late. HONESTLY?!

A WITCH!

We've found a witch, may we burn her?

and that is why i said late for people who've ALREADY gotten invites. i just feel weird getting an invite on august 14th, but scheduling it on october 18th when there's several dates in between to choose from. like maybe the school won't think i'm interested enough to jump on the first date available. oh well, nevermind.

Med schools do not give out 99 of the 100 spaces they have in the first month. You are working for one spot, not all of them.

You have 5 interviews already?!?

I feel stupid.

I submitted early August. Am I late? Am I late?

Seriously, though, I have no interviews either yet =(

pushing it back too far may suggest to the school that you're not too interested in them.

If you have a good reason for delaying (financial issues, etc) you may wish to convey that to the school when you request to move the date

are you not getting the hint that people feel bad when you trumpet 5 interview invites when they have none?

your problem seems petty to them.

stop now.

It's really not OP's problem that premeds are naturally jealous of anyone "better" than them. By that, I refer to anyone who flames people who have honest questions, whether they be about a "35 MCAT" or early interviews.

OP is wasting valuable space on the internet with his stupid question.

Remember, the internet is not a big truck you just dump things on, it's a series of tubes. Don't clog the tubes.

I know...sdn is like a beauty magazine...really horrible for a person's self esteem.

I try to tell myself that this does not represent everyone...I hope 😕 Otherwise I'm screwed.

you know OP i sort of had the same thought, but never would I start a post on here about that when you have so many interviews already! consider it a blessing! october is NOT late, even for invites you got now, 2 in sept and 3 in oct sounds good, how much class were you planning to miss anyway if they were all scheduled in september? That'd be crazy in my book...don't worry about it...as to everyone else with no interviews, best of luck! have faith and they will come!

They're not going to care which date you pick. They give you the choice because they want you to have your choice of dates - you can pick whichever works best. They've got better things to scrutinize than the scheduling preferences of hundreds of applicants. I'd doubt that information would even be readily available to the people that make the final decision.

"Well, he's a great applicant, and he interviews well, but he didn't schedule for September 18, this year's secret bonus day. Obviously he's an ungrateful SOB. Rejected."

I agree with army. I had to resched an interview and specifically asked the school if it was possible because that was a scheduled no-class day.

For the rest of you bustin' on the OP, no need.

you have a very good shot at rolling schools by interviewing in october. Aside from this fact, it is a commonly known fact that interviewing earlier is more beneficial. I'm not sure how it all works out exactly, but October 15th is the first date that schools usually tell their interviewed applicants whether they are accepted/rejected/waitlisted.
