I esubmitted a week ago. Like an idiot i forgot to put my shadowing experience! i knowww! :scared: I have an LOR from a dentist which he indicated the approximate amount of time i spent shadowing with him. 120 hours. Should i be worried? or the fact that the hours are on the letter would be ok?

Let me know what should i do, or any advice please! I was so into my personal statement that i truly forgot to add it in. I hope this is not a deal breaker 🙁

🙄 well.... The bad thing is... it is not going to show up on your "holistic cover sheet" and so, the hope is that the adcoms will actually read the whole application plus your letter of recs and then see that you did shadow.

I think it might be a bad situation for some schools, not all of them.

If it were me... I would send a quick email to each school.

This is terrible! i can't believe this. I am so disappointed right now. This is going to add to the already existing stress! Mannn 🙁 this sucks!

This might be one of those times to actually talk to the schools. Check out your list. If any of them are schools with a heavy-handed requirement, make those a priority. I'd draft a pleasant email to your schools (once you know they might have your app). Include your AADSAS ID. If you've received any secondaries, do any of those have a 'say what you want' field? That's another place to address it if you opt to not directly contact that particular school.

It's not a game-ender by forgetting it on your primary app. If a school really values it, I would just be afraid they wouldn't dig into letters and personal statements to find it.

I will definitely do both! thank you for your advice!
Is so frustrating! You put tons of money at risk, you work very hard to have a nice application on your side, and then this happens. It freaks me out that i may be put aside because of such a stupidity from my side!
Am relieving all my emotional buildup as you can see, part of what makes SDN awesome!

Wow how can you forget such a thing? That's one of the most crucial info the adcoms use to assess your candidacy. Let's hope that the schools you applied to didn't just screen you out without reading your LoRs.

Yep, thank you for reminding me how could i forget one of the most important things on a dental school application, i had forgotten that fact! lol. Seat belt on, and holding tight for consequences! 😀😳🙁:scared:

I'm not exactly sure how schools see AADSAS, but I would think it is digital for them as it is for us. In light of that, you might want to contact ADEA tomorrow morning and see if they would be willing to allow you to fix your error.

I know this is possible because when I applied I had a major problem on my application after e-submitting and they were able to un-e-submit me and allow me to make changes.

If in fact they do allow this, I would simply shoot e-mails to the admissions departments letting them know of this important update. They are able to retrieve your application without the ADEA doing their weekly update, something else I learned during my cycle when I had LORs come in late.

Hopefully everything works out for you.

I have a similar problem as you. I put my shadowing experience under the wrong category. Instead of putting it under the shadowing experience category, I put it under EC/volunteering section. Unfortunately, this became a problem for WesternU. The status of my file was "INCOMPLETE". So make sure to call/email the schools to fix the problem.

Good Luck!

You are allowed to send additional LORS directly to schools in addition to those in your aadsas. I would have your dentist send another directly to your schools to get their attention.

Sent from my SCH-I500 using SDN Mobile

Definitely email each of the schools 🙂 They will get back to you.

The best (and most important) thing you can do right now is call AADSAS customer service (617-612-2045), and tell them your problem. See if they can go into the system and fix the problem for you. That is your best shot.

If you can't, the next best thing to do is to email AND call all the schools you applied to.

But first try seeing what AADSAS can do for you...they may be able to add it in for you. That would be ideal.

Keep us posted on what happens, and good luck!
