So I was accepted into the University of Utah College of Pharmacy and I will be starting in about two weeks. The problem is that I feel as if I have forgotten most of the undergrad material, namely chemistry and organic chemistry since I haven't had to apply it since I took the PCAT. Is this a common problem among new students? Will the material slowly come back to me as I go along or will it be an uphill battle from the get go??

You'll remember when you need it. Don't worry, pharmacy school is not undergrad. There will be a vast amount of knowledge thrown at you but regurgitation of undergrad is not something you're going to have to do. As long as you remember the basic concepts you'll be fine.

Perfect. Basic concepts I can handle just fine. Thanks for your reply!

Uh, are you sure about that? Every thing in pharmacy school is regurgitation based.

OP,

Don't worry about it. You're really not expected to remember anything from undergrad (except for elementary math skills). Trust me, even the basic science (eg. biochem, microbio, etc.) are designed with a clinical element to them. It's much different than undergrad, but it's also a lot more applicable.

whatt?? you mean i didn't need to know every detail of SN2 reactions?? 😱

OP, don't sweat it, i barely remembered how to tie my own shoes starting pharm school, i seem to have made it to P3 somehow.

haha, sorry. my reading comprehension skills have seriously gone down the poop shoot.

Wow you guys are great! Reading these posts really put me at ease. I mean I wasn't totally clueless on the undergrad material, but it would have taken some serious review to pound it back into my head. It's really nice to know that pharm school is realistic about it. Now if I can just use this as a clean slate and not get back into the habit of procrastination...lol
