17 y.o. girl has general malaise, progressive intermittent pain in knees over past six weeks. Has history of mouth ulcers. Is using hydrocortisone for rash on her checkcs.

Hg 7.2g/dL
Hct 31%
Leukocyte 21,000/mm3
Platelets 37,000/mm3

What is the diagnosis

Gonococcal arthritis
Juvenile RA
Lyme disease
Psoriatic Arthritis
Reiter's

No you won't.

I'm not on top of this game at all, but the first thing I always do is pay close attention to age and sex...17yo female....I immediately think autoimmune. My brain tries to narrow down the algorithm as the stem of the question progresses. I don't think they'd try to trick us all that much.
