Hello, I was working in the lab and cutting some ffpe tissue with the microtome. While I was removing the blade from the microtome, I cut my finger.

I have searched and searched to find out if ffpe tissue is infectious. But I keep coming up with mixed messages. Should I be worried about hiv, hcv, hbc?

Thanks!

Report the incident. Your institution will draw some blood for HIV and hepatitis testing. I don't have data just anecdotal evidence- you're most likely just fine. Although it's a pain and might make you feel somewhat embarrassed you need to report this and get tested. All institutions have standard protocols for this. Health care workers get cut/stuck all the time.
