formidable ruler/personal statement

can someone explain to me about the formidable ruler again?
I still don't get it. 😱

Oh and did anyone have problems indenting the paragraphs in personal statements?
For each paragraph, I indent, but when I copy and paste it on aadsas and view it, the indent goes away.
Do I have to put spaces between the paragraphs?

My indents went away when I put it into the aadsas window. You could still tell where one paragraph ends and the other begins, though, so I didn't worry about it.
