Formulas/Normal Lab Values Step 1

Will COMLEX and/or USMLE give us normal lab values?

Also, what about formulas, such as A-a gradient, etc.?

If not, anyone know which formulas are high-yield?

Normal lab values will be given to you, at least on the COMLEX I know for sure, I didnt take the USMLE but I am sure the values would be given. Formulas you will need to know, they will not give you any formulas. The only formulas I memorized were the ones in First Aid and Step Up, maybe someone else might have a better suggestion.

You will get normal lab values on USMLE too. There will be a button at the bottom of the screen throughout your computerized USMLE exam that you can simply click & a list of normal lab values will pop up. No formulas or equations will be given. Good luck!

I noticed that First Aid contains a lot of formulas in its Physiology section. When I was looking at BRS Physiology, it has a list of "High Yield" equations for Step 1. It wasn't nearly as extensive as the First Aid list. Anyone know who to trust on this?

Honestly, I cannot remember ever clicking on the normal lab values icon during Step I, so I wouldn't stress about it too much.

As far as equations go, I also can't remember using any in the test. I would think that the useful ones would be 1. anion gap calculation 2. the acidosis and alkalosis correction equations (like bicarb changes x amount for every 1.0 change in CO2), and 3. MAYBE creatinine clearance and FENa to help out in determining renal vs. prerenal pathology, etc. 4. lung volumes 5. Cardiac output

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that may be useful during the test. I don't think I had any ?? asking me to calculate stuff...more like questions where being able to calculate a value would help me out with the diagnosis.
