Hey, I am still waiting to be verified after four weeks - I submitted 7/3. Is this normal, or is this AMCAS? I thought I was a pretty straight forward kind of applicant but this seems like a l o n g time to be waiting.

On the other hand, I have gotten several secondaries from schools that don't screen ...

Anyone else waiting this long too, or am I the only one 😛 ?
 
they obviously transmited if you got a secondary silly.......
they are just being lazy with the web page i suppose..
 
I also received secondaries before I was verified, but this is because schools can download your name and address before the rest of your AMCAS application is ready. I submitted right around when you did (7/5) and was verified 7/24. I agree that four weeks is a long time to wait, but technically they can take up to six!! If I were you, I'd call AMCAS to make sure that everything is on track. And at least you have those secondaries to keep you busy... 😉
 
just work on your secondaries and get those out of the way. by the time you finish those, amcas should have verified your application by then. this may be a high peak time for amcas applications......good luck.....:clap:
 
Thanks for the feedback everybody - I guess I was feeling like I was the last one in line or something ... 😕

I have a million courses too, so manybe that's holding me up altho I can't have so many that they can't be checked off in a couple of days. I guess I should call them but I am at work all day and can't afford to be on hold for an hour only to be told: 'you're still not verified.'

Oh, well I guess I'll have to do it and call them ...
 
I submitted on 7/3 too and had my transcripts sent out a few days before that. It took them 2 weeks to acknowledge having my transcripts and I have been "active" ever since. I am there waiting with you... let's hope the wait isn't too long.
 
I submitted my AMCAS application online on 07/20 and I just checked the aamc.org website and found that my application was verified and processed already as of today. You might want to check because it was pretty quick for me! Good luck everyone!!!

That's good to hear. I went active on the 21st of July and as of today I'm still active. Two weeks and counting...
 
Arrrrrgh...

I went active on July 21 and have been waiting ever since. I've done all the secondaries that don't screen, and now I'm sitting around twiddling my thumbs! Hurry up, already!!!!+pissed+
 
I have been active since 7/17. I hope I get lucky and get verified soon. Is there anyone out there who is still active like me around the same date? I should have had my application sent in much sooner, but a certain school took about a month and a half (+ plus several phone calls) to send in my transcript.
 
My AMCAS went active 7/16 and was processed 8/4 so your applications should be done any day now. hope this helped.
 
I went active sometime around the 16-17th and am still waiting. I thought I was getting ahead of the game by sending my transcripts out a mere 2-3 days before submitting. I wish I had of done it 2-3 weeks before submitting. Maybe then I would be verified by now. 🙁
 
So when I DO get verified, assuming this ever happens (!), where will I hear about it first? My email account, or the AAMC web page?
 
I don't know about the transcript thing making a big difference, my trnascripts have all beenr received about four WEEKS before I submitted the application. I had them all sent in May and submitted 7/3. I really have NO idea what is holding them up ...
 
I don't know what to tell you paws. Patience and waiting can be a lot to deal with, especially with the AMCAS application processing times. Like I said previously, you can finish up those secondary applications you have (including getting those letter of recommendations sent out) so you can finish those up and tackle the next round of secondary applications from schools which do screen AMCAS applications first. Good luck and stay positive. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!!!! 😀
 
It took me the full six weeks to be verified last year. Just fill out all your secondaries as other posters said. This will keep you ahead of the game for when all the rest flood in.

I also submitted around the same time you did last year and six weeks later it was verified. Needless to say, I still was offered early interview invites, and had been accepted to school by the first of November. So don't worry about it. You will be fine!
 
I am also on the list of those waiting for AMCAS to verify their application.
I have one more transcript waiting to be sent (even though I requested the bloody thing since July 9th). They have received my other transcripts though. I have a feeling the other school didn't send my transcript (blast them). I will go to the post office soon to see if they cashed my money order, if not then I will bust down their door tomorrow and re-request it😡

This sucks
 
Thanks for the cheering up guys, I really appreciate hearing your own stories. It's hard to believe that all this work could actually result in an interview and acceptance - it all seems so abstract right now.

I hear you too, Ayo - I 've done 9 secondaries now and feel like I am just getting into the swing of this! They are really hard to write at first but I just force myself to get moving and now I have a whole pile of stuff to work from and I'm hoping the rest will become easier (mentally) and then I can also cut and paste some of them.

It's really great to hear other people's feedback and experiences :clap:

I am bumping this to see if there is anyone out there that went active around 7/17 (like me) and is still active. I am going to check and see how long I have until the six week deadline. So if you have or have not been verified please let all of us complusive individuals know.

I finally broke down and called them yesterday at 9:10 am and I got right thru! The woman who helped me was really great and explained everything, like I submitted on 7/3, went active on 7/9 and then I have 6 weeks from the 9th ! Jeesh, I thought I understood what the heck was going on but I really didn't.

She also said "perhaps the delay is due to this being the peak period for applications ..." understatement or what ?!

Hang in there Paws!!!! I am not sure why my application was processed ahead of others who had submitted online before me. Maybe it was because I was a reapplicant and alot of my application was pre-populated with responses from the previous application cycle. I also had all of my transcripts in by the end of May, which may have to do something with it, but I am not sure. Anyways, good luck Paws and it will be verified/processed soon!!!!!!! :clap:
 
I have been active since 7/21 and I sent my transcripts in early June. Its frustrating that none of the schools have recieved even my PRIMARY application. I am in the same boat as you guys. I guess there is always a lesson to be learned in any difficulty. For me, I am learning to patient...its annoying, but what can I/we do?

I sent mine in 7/26 and my transcipts were sent in early June and are all there...It still says Im active, but I got an email from Baylor asking for a secondary and saying they had my primary...but it still says that I am active??? I dont get it...
 
Hi Jherr.....

Schools can download applicant information such as mailing and email address (i.e. contact information) so that they can inform applicants or direct them to fill out their secondary applications. This is true of a lot of schools, such as Baylor, which do not screen AMCAS applications before sending out a secondary application to all of its applicants. Schools that screen wait for the verified AMCAS application to be transmitted before they review the applicant. Good luck!!!! Verification is on the horizon!!!! 😀
 
How long do we have to wait....I am just ranting I guess. Damn AMCAS! Anyhow, I've heard that the number of applicants has signficantly increased from last year...and it had to be this year...when I am applying. That's how my luck is usually...always conjuring up something to meddle my plans.

Well, I submitted my primary aroudn 7/12 and still not verified. Sent my transcripts in a month earlier...😡

I'm still just 'active' ... and yesterday when I spoke to Upstate they said they will send out my online secondary info when I am verified and they receive my information. Well, today's email has one from them saying: thanks for your interest in us, here's your password for the secondary ...

Well, I am STILL not verified as of today so I don't know what the heck is going on. 😕 This is burning my buttons here ...

I went active 7/16 and was verified last night! For those of you with mid-July "going active" dates, the wait can't be too long.
 
Hi, can anyone explain if you are still in line to be verified how that affects early decision applicants? And what is this August 1st deadline, is that to submitt or to be verified? thanks!
 
Tomatopie... what time last night? Just curious, because if people are getting verified after work hours, I'll be glued to my computer ALL DAY!

And by the way, congrats!!!
 
Question...

I've been thinking about adding USC and Loyola Chicago to my list, but I'm hesitant to do this before I'm verified. I thought I read that someone changed his/her contact info and it set the verification process back a few weeks.

Should I wait till I'm verified to add schools to my list?

I would wait until you're verified. I don't know if adding a school would restart the process (seems ridiculous really, but the vagaries of AMCAS are many), but why take the risk? Just add it the day you get verified.
 
I submitted my stuff early july. I have two transcripts received and it remains one. The last transcript was sent on July 24th (I called the school) and so far AMCAS has it down as "not received" so my application is on "hold".

This is very frustrating..😡
I emailed and called and all I hear is "back-log"... should I resend the transcript or what? I will wait till the end of this week to see what happens.
 
The thing that kills me about this is its arbitrary nature. I realize some people have more complex applications to verify, but there's no rhyme or reason as to who gets verified first. Bah. I'll stop whining now. Any news from anyone else?

The email I received was timed 4:28 PM. When I got on AMCAS again, every single one of my schools had transmitted my application between 7/14 and 7/26. This may have been just my name, address, etc.--I have no idea.

From what I understand, schools do a second transmission after everything has been verified. Does anyone know more about this?

So what exactly are they verifying over a period of 4-6 weeks? I can't imagine it taking that long to verify course records... do they verify all the extracurricular activities and everything too?
 
I know the wait is cruel but hang in there guys. You are still on time, and those adcoms probably haven't even finished tinkering with the applications from the last cycle (maybe except for UT, Michigan and Vandy).

I submitted 7/9, transcripts were received 7/21, and was processed 8/13.
Perhaps the time frame for others waiting will be similar....

i submitted 7/10...transcript received 7/11
i'm still waiting...and i only have one transcript from one school....i dont understand what is going on...they lost my original transcript too...i had one sent back in may and had to resend one in early july when they claimed they never got it
 
Well, my trnascripts were all received in mid-june and most in May but I am still not verified and I submitted 7/3. It's been six weeks already and I was told that I didn't go "active" until 7/9 and so it's 6 weeks from THEN - which is next wednesday.
