lyragrl...when did you become active? i've been active for almost 5 weeks still waiting....
 
FINALLY VERIFIED!!

I submitted on 7/3...went active around 7/17 or so....and was finally verified today 8/14

My transcripts were all in when I submitted, so I went active almost immediately. 7/21. I was verified today 8/14.

damn at the pace my transcript requests are going, I won't be verified until December+pissed+ +pissed+ +pissed+

I am taking a day off work 😡 tomorrow to personally go to this stupid college to RE-REQUEST my transcripts because AMCAS hasn't entered it yet..so I am assuming they don't have it yet. It took them 1.5 weeks to enter my other transcripts...what is taking soooooooooo long?
 
Submitted 7/6, last transcript was received 7/15 -- still waiting. And waiting. And waiting.

How do you know when you actually went active? Was it on the day that they confirmed that they got your transcript?

ETA: I know that my schools already have my application. Apparently AMCAS sends the applications to the schools pretty soon after they become active, then notifies the schools when the application is verified. Schools still won't consider you until after that, so it's not much help, but that's how it works.
 
I am back. I just called the college to verify that they indeed send the transcript and to verify that it was sent to the correct AMCAS address. I was told that it was mailed out on Aug 5th.

Mind you, I called the bloody school last Thursday and I was told that the transcript had been sent on July 24th. So which is it? I gave the mail system and AMCAS peeps two weeks to handle my transcripts but they still don’t it. Anyway I didn’t want to cause any over-the-phone commotion/drama. Mind you, I requested the transcript on JULY 7TH and my check was cashed on the 17th. I can’t believe it takes one bloody month to send a freaking transcript!!!

Now I don’t know what to do…wait two weeks and pray that AMCAS gets it (since it was mailed on the 5th of Aug)? Or go to the school tomorrow and request it?

I am soo paranoid😱 😱 , I check my email about 100x a day waiting for the AMCAS email that will tell me that they have received my transcript.
 
Sounds awful. If you have the time why don't you visit school. Nothing works better than a favor requested in person.
 
This is so annoying! I sent my transcripts in May. Submitted on 6/17. One transcript was lost, it was mailed to AMCAS on 6/15. They had it by 6/20, "but" it was not entered received till 7/15! It took them 3 weeks to open the envelope. Now I'm still waiting to be verified. I also want to add a few schools, but I don't want to risk messing up the verification process. Ughhhh..... 🙁
 
Well, I thought that once my status changed to "Verfication" it would be smooth sailing from there. But apparently, AMCAS will take another 15 days to "Verify" my application. Another 15 DAYS...seriously they must be joking.

"Allow at least fifteen working days for
the verification process. Your application will then be transmitted to your
designated medical school(s), and you will receive an email informing you that
your application has completed the verification process. Since many problems are
not detectable until the verification process begins, you may still receive
notification that your application needs to be corrected, or that additional
transcripts have been determined to be required in order to process your
application."

This is ridiculous..🙁

Mine went from "Verification" to "processed" really fast, so the end may be in sight for you.

I was verified yesterday, so I haven't gotten any screened secondaries yet.
 
I'm losing my patience..... I finished 4 secondaries already but none of which are my top choices. I think I check the aamc website about 3 times a day. submitted 7/21 and currently active and in line to be verified. Aaarrrggg!!! how long is this line???😡 🙁 +pissed+
 
Hang in there chapinista.......there is the peak time for AMCAS application verification.....it will soon happen for you.......Just get those secondaries in that you can do and hope for the best.......Stay positive and good luck in the process!!!! :clap: :clap: :clap:

Do school wait for your application to be verified before inviting you for an interview?

I already submitted my LOR and secondary to some schools...will they wait on verification or invite me for an interview (if I qualify)?

I was verified 8/13 and still no secondaries... via email OR snail mail! What gives?

Submitted 7/11...not freaking verified yet (ofcourse they are awaiting my one last transcript that was sent on 8/5)
 
Can you check to see if your transcripts are received before you submit your app? I sent transcripts 2 weeks ago, submitting app this week.
 
Cmudan, when AMCAS receives an official transcript required to verify and process your application, they send an email message confirming the receipt of the transcript........that's what happened to me....check your emails for those important updates!!!

My AMCAS appln is processed! I submitted 07/29 and I am processed 08/19. But applying EDP may have something to do with the speed with which I got processed.

I am so relieved that I made the deadline.
 
I'm still NOT verified! My transcripts were in and I went active on 7/15/03. Just think this time next year we will be starting med school and this whole nightmare will be over. 🙂 Right???

I know a few of you are already active and waiting verification but as for me I had to wait ONE MONTH for one of my transcripts to be sent to AMCAS (I requested it July 7th, they sent it Aug 5th, AMCAS just entered it today)...this is big news for me as this process is just horrible.

Now the wait begins for verification...hope that is not too long.🙄

I am going for the record now - 7 weeks since I first submitted, and 6 weeks since I was 'active'.

I've tried to call from work but the thing is, I can't be sitting here on hold for 50 minutes plus I don't feel comfortable using their phone. It would be a different story if 1) they actually answered your emails (they don't) or 2) they didn't keep you on hold for an hour and 3) had a TOLL-FREE number. I mean how hard is it to get a toll-free # ?? then I wouldn't mind sitting on hold for an hour on the company's time ... 🙄

This stinks big time especially since they HAVE all my transcripts ...
 
I'm in the same boat. It's been 4 weeks that I've been active.... I feel bad for you Paws, 7 weeks is an awfully long time to wait. To those who were processed, did you guys get a Verification email and that we will be verifying your application for 15 days or something?
 
Anybody else wonder if there are like more than two people working on the app process at AMCAS? And if they work like, more than 2 hours a day?

Man, i wish I knew someone in that office 😡
 
I finally got processed last week, but I really don't like the AMCAS system at all. I am a Texas resident and used the TMDSAS system to apply to the schools in Texas, and I must say they are a lot better. You send them an email, and email you back either the same day or the next business day. (And you understand the emails!!!) Your application is continually processed so late transcripts don't cause a delay. Another plus, they will correct something for you after submission. I think all the schools should use this type of system. It is not stressful at all.
 
Hey guys, I finally got thru to amcas on the phone and the reason I am not verified is because they lost one page of my transcript. 😱

They tried to say it was my error and that I needed to have the school resend it - but because I attended this univ. three different times, and they had me down for two of the three - I politely pointed out to them that the univ sends ONE complete transcript for all the times.

Ok she said - send it again fedex, and I will personally walk it thru on Tuesday.

My friends ... amcas received this transcript May 15.

Another life lesson in patience ... but I recommed calling them and finding out what is happening to your stuff if you were late like me. 😉
 
Wow that really sucks Paws. What a back breaker. Luckily you're still eons ahead of the August MCATers.
 
How is it possible for people to have become 'active' at around the same time but have vastly different 'verified' times. I have been active since 7/15 also and still no word from amcas. this really is an atrocious procedure in terms of efficiency. Do you think they are really strapped for cash and can't hire enough people to handle the volume they have learned to expect year in and year out? sigh....
 
Once my "lost" transcript was found, I went active on 7/15, and received my verified/completed email on 8/20. So it was about 5 weeks. I know it's only been 4 days, but I've received no emails/letters for secondaries yet. 🙁

Nearly all the secondaries I was waiting for rolled in about a week or a week and a half after I was verified. Now, of course, I'm drowning in secondaries!
 
What exactly is AMCAS doing when they say my file is "active"? Do they sit there and check thru all my transcripts to see if I entered the information properly? What are they doing?
 
It just means you're in line to be verified. Schools can get your name and address only during this time. They won't be checking your classes entered vs. transcripts until you are going through "verification." Sit tight because it might be a while before they begin verifying you. For me, I've been active for 4 weeks and counting.
 
I applied a couple of years ago during that hellish first year that there was an on-line AMCAS. Some of us had to threaten leagal action to get our apps processed in a timely manner. I must admit, they did hop right to, after a letter from a lawyer. I even had higher-ups calling me! You guys don't know what slow/screwed up is, if you didn't apply for 2002!
 
What I am quite baffled about is why some people get verified in 2-3 weeks and some people get verified so late for example, it takes about a month or more? Does this have to do with undergrad and how fast they send out the transcripts?

Don't you all know how this happens. I will let you in on AMCAS's little secret as to how this happens.............

They take all the applications and pin them to the wall........Then they take sharp pointy darts...........they aim randomly and FIRE..................whatever application they hit that is the one that goes next in the process.
So be quiet and don't let them know I told you their litle secret:laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

"Active" means you're in line. Basically, I think that means your file is in a pile on someone's desk. The next step is "verification" and then "processed."

The active state seems to be taking anywhere between 3 and 7 weeks for people right now. It took me about 3.5 weeks.

I went from "verification" to "processed" very quickly.

I've been active for four weeks and not verified either...does any one know what determines why some people get verified so quickly and others wait months?

This is so damn frustrating
 
I recommend calling amcas if it is taking a few weeks; apparently, my old university has been sending out my transcript but missing a page (?). The page is from before the system went electronic, go figure. So that wasn't right.

On the other hand, amcas didn't bother to let me know what was going on for 7 weeks and just let my stuff sit there until I called up really angry and asked wtf is going on. Suddenly, they sprang into action ... 🙄 and started sending me emails telling me my file wasn't complete - yeh, like duh ....

So I am going to change the title of this thread to "Eight weeks and still not verified ..."

Talk about being completely powerless over a process. How in the world could I have know what was going on. I sent this transcript back on May 7th. !!

My primary was verified early and I am receiving secondaries right now. However, I retook the MCAT on June 14th and won't get a score until July 15th.
