Can anyone elaborate on what combined FP/EM entails? I am entering D.O. School next year with a strong interest in EM, but know how difficult it can be for a D.O. to get EM residencies. Is it a few years of FP and then a few of EM?

For all of you moderators I know you try and do your jobs but by moving and closing every post what is the point of this whole thing?

Thanks,

There aren't that many FP/EM programs available, five or so. As you might guess than, they are pretty competetive. You are more likely to match into a straight EM spot. Being a DO will not hold you back, do well in school, blow the COMLEX/USMLE away, get some EC's under your belt and you will get a residency spot. Don't do a five year residency (FP/EM) if want you really want can be done in three (EM). Good luck!
