I just received my acceptance letter to FPU in New Hampshire! Has anyone else heard and decided to go? I'm waiting on one more school but I think FPU is a good place for me. Does anyone have any information about the school and surrounding city? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

p.s. what are your thoughts on having a part time job outside of school? is this at all possible if it were only a few hours per week?

Congratulations! So your received a letter in the mail? I am still waiting to hear from them. Where do you live if you don't mind me asking? I live on the west coast so hoping it is taking longer to get to me!

I got an email yesterday saying I passed the initial screening and gave me the contact info for the person looking over my application. Is this a good sign? Has any one accepted their spot or declined their spot yet?

Yup! I got mine too! Congratulations!

Congratulations! I'm in the final days of my 2nd year at FPU AZ and will be in my fulltime clinicals when you start next August so we won't likely meet. Regardless, I'm sure you will like the school, we're in our new facility now which has more room and future expansion space than the old building. FPU has built up the faculty in AZ and has some really good clinician professors.

where is the new place at? Do you all have a cadaver lab now on your campus or do you still go over to Glendale cc? Really excited to hear about the expansion!

The new campus is a little less than a mile West of the old location in Goodyear. It's in a complex of fairly new buildings owned by the City of Goodyear and I think FPU has something like a 10 year lease on one of the larger buildings. It's being built out to FPU's specs for the current DPT program as well as for potential future offerings. I'm kind of out of touch with the 1st year classes but as far as I know, anatomy classes are still being held at GCC and I don't know if there are plans to add a cadaver lab at the Goodyear site but that would be really nice if they did. There may be zoning issues to deal with on that, I'm not sure. I've heard that FPU is planning to add other cirriculums (undergrad maybe?) at that location, now that that they have space, but I don't know specifically what or when or if those plans are still on the books.

I just received an acceptance email to the program in Concord, NH. Is there actually a campus there, or is it like commuting to a school every day without the campus lifestyle? I was really excited about the campus at the actual university, but I can't find anything about Concord.

Did you find anything out about the school? I am having a tough time finding information as well. I received my acceptance letter today, but I really would like to go to an actual college campus. I didn't realize this wasn't in Rindge when I applied.

I can't find much information on the campus either. It seems like it is located in just one building. I've never been to the campus but I have been to Concord. The campus in Rindge and New Hampshire itself is beautiful but I can't say the same for Concord. Its a tiny little city that used to be very big into manufacturing. I found it to have too many of the drawbacks of a city (dirty, congested, etc.) without any of the appeal of other cities in New England (diversity, night life, etc.). It's too bad the campus isn't in Rindge because I would definitely be there! I'm just looking for the small town, close community feel I guess!

I found this on another Forum...

"I attend the Franklin Pierce campus in NH. It is a good program. There is not much to be said for the "campus." The program meets for all coursework and labs on one floor of an office building."

They also said this about the housing...

"As for housing, the school does not offer any housing. Most students live in apartments within a 10 minute drive to "campus." Some students live at home and commute from as far as an hour away. There are a few apartment complexes that are very popular with the DPT students but there are also independent apartments and houses for rent. But finding housing is really left up to you, as a student to do on your own."
"i have been searching for places to live but it seems like most are about 25-40 minutes away"

Yea that's what I found. I would be excited if it was on the actual campus but if I am going into debt I want a college experience again. This is more like the community college I am finishing up my undergrad credits at now. Just doesn't feel like college to me. My app didn't get sent out until 2/5/13 and I have an interview and this acceptance so far so I'm hopeful I can get into a school that I will like the campus more, or atleast like the city. Thanks for your response.

I am a current student at the Goodyear campus... we moved into our new building about 3 months ago which for right now is just our space which is awesome but this year they are brining out other programs from NH and they will be going to the buildings next to us.. It has two classrooms, two labs, and a lot of study rooms so it is a great space and all that is needed with the smaller class size. We still go to the glendale cc for anatomy because the teacher is amazing and does a really good job, you only have to go once a week and is only a 20 minute drive. We will never have an anatomy lab because of the good lab at the cc.. let me know if you have any other questions!

Just got my acceptance to the NH program!

For those interested, FPU NH announced last week the relocation of some of it's CGPS programs (including DPT) to Manchester. Here's the write up from the FPU web site:

http://beta.franklinpierce.edu/about/news/CGPS_Manch_Move.htm

It is not very specific as to when they will being using the new building for DPT, only saying they will begin to operate from that facility in June.

has anyone heard anything from Franklin Pierce (NH) yet?

Got my rejection today... Best of luck everyone!

Did it come in the mail or email? I live on the west coast and have been in contact with people in the department so I'm hoping to hear soon.

I got an acceptance from the AZ program Friday. They do it through email. I assume it's the same for AZ and NH.

Anyone choosing between New Hampshire and Arizona?!

Hi! Anyone attending FPU in Manchester this August? Just got my acceptance letter yesterday!

Congratulations! I received an email acceptance as well, and will probably attend -- it's the only school I applied to, so I was very excited to hear the good news.

They gave me until April 11th to send in my $500 deposit (I sent it in the very next day haha!) and also, you have to send the deposit and acceptance agreement to the Arizona campus which I thought was strange, hope you hear soon!

Congrats, that's awesome! I will see you in August then it looks like!

Thanks for the information. Hopefully I am in the second round of invites! Also, the tuition is a little confusing. I am reading the website like $18,000, however, on other sites its $32-36. Any information?

It confused me too! I don't have anything other than what I saw on the site that said it is a little more than $9,000 per term and there is a total of 10 terms over the course of the three years. Hopefully they will send more information directly to me soon.

Here's a little more info...I recently sent an email inquiring about when the tuition will be set for 2014-2015, and I was directed to the Office of Student Financial Services. I haven't followed up with them yet, but my sense is similar to yours, that currently the cost of a term is $9,338, and there are 10 terms. Yikes! I did find out that membership in APTA/NH-APTA (discounted rate for students) is a requirement that is not covered by tuition -- more info will be shared about that during orientation. I also learned that the first week is a modified schedule for orientation, and that we will receive an orientation packet via email in July or August.

Okay, thank you! Do you know what the housing situation is? I'm assuming they don't offer housing to grad students but just wondered if you had any idea

I just got accepted too, but I'm hoping to get off the waitlist for a school I'd rather go to.

I just got an email acceptance today, but I'm not sure if I will accept.

I am from New Hampshire and plan to attend Franklin Pierce University-NH DPT program this fall. I thought I'd put this info out there, because as you read through threads here on SDN about FPU-NH, it doesn't seem like there's been a whole lot of positive information. I think the DPT program would benefit from updating it's website to mention some of the factors that may set it apart from other programs, or at least add things that may be of interest to prospective applicants.

Have you had a chance to visit Franklin Pierce? The new (they moved from Concord less than a year ago) space in Manchester is quite nice. It's in the top floor of a restored mill building along the Merrimack River. Manchester has a good amount of things going on, interesting restaurants etc for a city its size. Also great access to the White Mountains (~1hr) for hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter,~40 minutes to the coast and an easy drive or bus ride (~1hr) to Boston , so it seems like quality of life would be pretty good...for time not spent doing school work 😉. The best way to get a sense of what's going on in Manchester is to read the free weekly, the Hippo, also available online: http://www.hippopress.com/ (click on the current cover or the link to view current issue) If you haven't been to NH, you can get a bit of a sense of it by googling the amusing You-Tube video, Granite State of Mind (Jay-Z Parody - The SSP)

At one of my observation sites this winter there was a student in her third year at Franklin Pierce -- doing her final clinical, and she said she felt well-prepared and on par with other students from other programs in previous clinicals, and she mentioned how helpful she's found the professors to be.

If you are at all interested in research, one of the professors is Dr. Cleland, who has won several awards for his research (this article also shows a photo of the Manchester lab space). http://beta.franklinpierce.edu/about/news/Cleland_Rose_2013.htm
and from the previous year: http://beta.franklinpierce.edu/about/news/Cleland_Awards.htm

Here are a few other news items related to the program that can be found via the Franklin Pierce news page:
http://beta.franklinpierce.edu/about/news/Physical_Therapy.htm
http://beta.franklinpierce.edu/about/news/DPT_Seminar.htm
http://beta.franklinpierce.edu/about/news/DPT-Course.htm

Anyway, hope this info helps if you're looking for more info about the FPU-NH DPT program.

Anyone have any updates on Franklin Pierce NH? Waiting patiently!!!

I currently attend FPU-NH. I am finishing up my first year so let me know if you have any questions!

Got Accepted! Sent in my deposit….great facility. GMA2013 how much did you spend on books your first year?

I just received my acceptance letter in an email. I am presented with the dilemma of choosing between the Manchester NH campus and the Goodyear AZ campus. Does anyone have any information on the differences between campuses? Does the NH campus have better faculty since its the main campus? How are the facilities (Labs, classrooms, study rooms)? Or is the AZ campus more appealing since it is new and fresh? They do not seem to have much information on the website about the differences in campuses. The curriculum seems to be identical. If the two schools are identical curriculum/faculty/facility wise then I think I will choose AZ over NH due to weather. ANY information would help. Thanks!
