So I had prepared my application to be submitted in June but I did bad on the MCAT (27). I took the MCAT again on August 10th and got a 34 (11VR, 11PS, 12BS) which I am really proud of. However, I did not submit my primary application until August 24th as I was really worried about the personal statement.

I was wondering if people thought this was too late as my GPA is not super competitive (3.43sGPA, and 3.61 cGPA). I have applied to mostly lower and mid-tier schools but am worried that I wont be verified until late October and will be too late in the cycle.

To make things a bit more complicated, I have also applied to DO schools and have gotten secondaries and one interview invite. I am perfectly fine with going to a DO school but would prefer an MD school and would hate to lose the option because I was too late.

If I prewrite my secondaries, do you guys think I still have a chance or should I try to withdraw my application and try again next year? Any help would be appreciated.

You always have a chance if you turn in an application. Just turn some in and you'll be fine. My friend last year didn't submit his primary application till September. He did get 3 acceptances and now is attending UCSD. So you'll be fine. Just apply this cycle, but I wouldn't do a lot, just some schools.

And if you do decide to follow through with MD, make absolutely sure you pre-write secondaries so you can be complete ASAP. Like train said, if you can be complete quickly then you may have a shot. But the process is so very random at times, so see what happens. Good luck.

I did my primary in Sept. You had a reason to wait.
