I just got a damn D for my last exam, which was worth A LOT for my final grade. I'm prolly going to get a C now for that class. I already got two C's since freshmen year, this will be the 3rd. Is this gonna look very bad? It'll drop my GPA a bit for sure...

The two C's I've gotten was from a History and College Algebra class.

I got a C at my college algebra class and a D in another of my math classes. This sucks I've aced most of my sciences besides "Math" which is classified as BCPM. I'm not the best at "pure math" but General Chemistry sequence was a breeze for me. I hope it doesn't look that bad to the adcoms, it certainly brought my GPA down big time. 🙁

No, statistics is actually highly recommended at most medical schools.

Not sure about the history, but I'm sure performing well in Calculus will convince adcoms you are capable of excelling in math. If it was LINEAR rather than COLLEGE algebra then I wouldn't worry about compensating for it at all. Good luck!

It's worth discussing, how many adcoms actually care about an applicant's math abilities, assuming they did well in Chem and Physics? I don't think that it's nearly as important as a dozen other factors...other than it being a drag on one's sGPA.

OP: I wouldn't recommend taking Calculus if you didn't ace College Algebra and Trig.... That seems like a recipe for another crappy grade. I'd retake Algebra instead, or just take Statistics and do well... That's enough math for 90+% of the med schools out there.

In my interview, I brought up the two C+'s I have in Calc II and III, and the adcom flat out said they didn't care about that. I am not sure if the fact that I had better grades in Stats, Trig and Calc I made up for it, or if they just don't care at all about the math scores, but I would bet money low math grades look better than low biology grades.

not the end of the world, worst comes to worst, if your GPA is terrible do a Post-Bacc if you get a high MCAT score

Post bacc programs are expensive...maybe he doesn't have money for it? O.P. don't sweat it, there's really nothing you can do now. You're only making it harder on yourself
