SO I'm taking the DAT next wednesday. Ive been studying for months but majority is watching videos and practice questions i think my main downfall is patience to take the test. the minute i see questions i dont know i just end up guessing which leads to me getting low scores on the practice test. i already pushed the test back like 3x i just dont know how to go about this.

The fact that you are asking this question is of concern to me. You need to feel fully prepared before attempting the DAT to avoid a retake. I would step away from the timed test and find your areas of weakness, you said you are guessing at certain questions, just before your DAT you should not be guessing on many questions.

Just my 2 cents

Good luck to you.

I was told this as well, although I do want to take the test to get it over with. If I need to take a retake I will do it will that make me seem less competitive than the rest?

This is not a test you want to take to get it over with, it is expensive and very ego deflating to see low DAT scores. You should have the attitude I am ready to Destroy the DAT, not if I need to retake. Retake should not be in your thoughts, #think30 should be your motto. Don't let impatience control the situation. You have plenty of time, keep working, until you have no more doubts.

Hope this helps. I have been doing this a very long time and have helped thousands of students through the years, I have a lot of reference points to back what I am saying.

I totally feel you man, it has been happening to me too when I am taking practice tests. If you have been studying for a while now, I would just go over all the practice tests and the mistakes you made. I think the problem doesn't lie in you not retaining info but the confidence you have. Just take a breather in each problem, be more confident, and I think you will be more than fine

I think you’re playing with fire a bit here, friend. It’s very easy to fool yourself into thinking you know the material when in reality you didn’t know it as well as you thought you did. That’s a quick way to get burned. If your getting this nervous on the practice tests imagine the real thing! Not trying to get you even more nervous because lord knows I was a stress case like no other. You should seriously try and evaluate your knowledge and don’t cling onto the idea that you were just drawing a blank.

When you’re going through practice questions make sure that you are trying to understand the concepts. People fall into the trap of learning the questions and then get screwed on the real thing. If you’re feeling under prepare I’d hold off. If you realize that it’s just nerves but you legitimately understand the material then go for it. Best of luck

If you can push your test 1 or 2 more weeks it might help. Are you going through every single question you get wrong? After taking a lot of tests and going through all your mistakes, you start to discover a pattern and you get used to the type of questions that are asked. Which sections are you struggling with are which are you doing well in?
