Hey Guys,

I have been studying for the OAT now for 2 months, I was scheduled to take the exam on Sept 1st, I felt under prepared and now have moved it to Sept 18th. I seem to have a strong grasp on Bio, but that can go either way on the exam, but at least I have some sort of grasp. However for Physics, Orgo, and Gen Chem I am completely clueless. I cannot remember practically anything ( I know it may seem stupid, but really I just cant) I have taken 2 semesters of both Orgo, Chem and Phys, and done really well. I just need some advice on how to go about studying for these sections. I have the Big kaplan book I already outlined the whole book, took notes and everything. I have started doing destroyer problems, but I feel the orgo and gen chem are REDIC hard and physics has way to many equation/formula questions. I am petrified to take this exam now and I really dont know what to do 🙁

Thank you very muchh to anyone that can help!

a little over a month before takin the OATs i forgot everythin i knew about gen chem lol even tho i had already studied it from the big Kaplan book. What I ended up doing is going back and doing the review problems in the Gen Chem section in the big book and if I couldn't answer them correctly I studied that chapter over. And then on the chapter that I studied over I went back in my textbook from my gen chem class and did problems on the same subject. I pretty much "re-reviewed" all of gen chem in 4 days (it could be done in less time as I was like watching TV and talkin on the phone a lot lol) my gen chem scores on the practice tests sky rocketed and i did ok on the OAT (340 for gen chem)

for physics it really depends on what kind of "learner" you are. i learn equations really easily but the thing is that the OAT is way more concept-based in this section. So apart from all the equations that I had already memorized I had to really understand physics concepts like frictional force, free fall, collisions, simple harmonic motion, waves, fluids and all that stuff 😀 since the kaplan book had a lot more calculation type questions i ended up reading a small cliffnotes book for physics that i got for when i took it way back in high school and that book has a lot of concepts and explains physics without using all the formulas that kaplan does and I also went back a little to my study notes that are in a cute little notebook that i made when i took my physics this past semester and did real good in physics, i got 380

i thought i was gonna do great in orgo because i killed in that section in the kaplan practice and oat achiever tests (like 350-370 range) but i ended up gettin a 300 which was probably because i was fasting that day and my mind tends to fluctuate a lot when i dont eat and stuff (my mood tends to be a little more elevated when i eat, bad i know lol) but its whatever really lol

also please please dont be scared about the exam...its just a test, it really is...even if you get a 200 life will go on, the birds will still be chirping, the sky will still be bright blue, the ppl in your life who love you will continue loving u and you will not die on the spot trust me 😀 the best thing you can do is be calm throughout the whole process of studying and while you are taking the test as well. good luck and dont forget to practice your timing and reading for a prolonged time on a computer screen (at least those were problems that i had to address) u'll do great 🙂

wow thank you so much that really helped me...I know I am just terribly nervous but thank you and congrats on your scores! I will probably just use my class notes or text books to study these subjects now, and have some sort of basics down. Thanks again really appreciate it! 🙂
