I was told by a friend of mine who is in his first year of dental school that off of the ADA.org site or maybe the ADEA site or somewhere you can get a free CD of 3 previous exams. He also said that is was really close to the difficulty level of the actual DAT. I was wondering if anyone had a link to this page or knew where I can find it????? Thanks

I've never heard of this news. But, I suppose your friend must have seen and used the CD based on what you described here. Would he not know the right place to get it from?

Your "friend" is laughing at you now.

I'm not sure about a CD but I have a sample test booklet published by the ADA from 2003. You can download a 2006 copy from their site.

There're actually 3 previously administered exams released by the ADA in the 90's but they've no longer been available ever since the computerized DAT took over the paper format. I'm not 100% sure... but believe that the present sample booklet was derived somehow from the first three.

Other than the PAT, the ADA sample tests are pretty representative of the DAT although they may all still appear easier than the real stuffs (due to added examination stress, poor monitor resolutions, limitation of highlighting and making side notes features on the computer screen, ...)

The earlier publishers like Kaplan and Topscore basically copied and modified a lot of questions from these past exams and sample booklet (an unethical manner practiced and yet dare to prohibit others from infringing on their "copyrighted" materials). Their very same acts of imitating the ADA's questions have at the same time led to the production of substandard PAT tests just like the one you will see in the ADA booklet.

Other than Cubes Counting, rest of the five sections presently administered at the Sylvan or Prometric Centers far exceeds the difficulty levels of Kaplan's and Topscore's. Serious DAT takers should take great note of this discrepancy.

He's probably thinking of Topscore, which is a cd of 3 exams that is close to the real thing.

Not sure about the CD, but the paper copies are out there. I bought a copy off ebay. It has tests from '81, '85, '88 and '90.

Actually I called him back and he said it was off the ADEA website and he walked me through getting it. I acutally figured out it was the top score one. Thanks for all your inputs.
