My dentist always tells me that students will fight over me in dental school because I have some amalgam in my mouth. Will this work be free or do dental students have to pay for procedures?

I have a tooth that my dentist thinks will need a crown one day and she told me to wait until dental school...so I've been wondering this same thing.

I think its not free but it is EXTREMELY cheap at the dental school. My dentist has told me to wait for some things til I get in to save money.. Something like a $5000 case only being about $800 in dental school

Lots of things are free. More advanced procedures are discounted.

Free Ninety-Nine if you find a legit instructor for you and your buddy to oversee the procedure. Had some fillings done from my classmates, just have to find the right instructor to work with.

Anything done by dental students is free, except for the lab fee. Work done by grads is free depending on the clinic and who does it. Faculty may also not charge, or charge much. Ortho on the other hand is the same for us as it is for the public. So far grad extractions and endo have been free. The problem is, having free time to actually be the patient.

at detroit mercy... everything thats phase 1 dentistry is free for the students (I think). this includes ur cleaning, basic restorations (amalgam / composit, etc).

I don't really know the details exactly, but I know alot of work for the students (and I think close family) is free. Obviously, not root-canals, crowns, implants, ortho, etc ~ but you do get special discounts.

I am planning to extract all 4 my wisdom teeth (with general anastesia) and I think the school will do it for free 😀

My wisdom teeth are impacted and I have to get them removed as well! My dentist told me to wait for dental school so I'm hoping my dental school will pull them for free also!

Most procedures were free if your classmates do them, other stuff you just pay lab fees.

I had my wisdom teeth removed by an PGY3 OMFS resident for free under nitrous. Pretty fast and painless.
