Curious how much FREE time your school gives you to study for the Step 1.

We have ~ 4 weeks from our last mini-board/shelf until the latest sit-by date at my school.

Same. Max of like 4 weeks and a day or two. Most people at my school are taking it after about 3 weeks.

We have our last pre-clinical finals the first week in March. Most students start clinics in either June or July (flexible). Most take about 8-9 weeks to study so they can finish Boards before taking the "Transition to Clerkship" crash course in Mid-May. Some people will end up waiting until after the crash course to take boards or just taking a month off before entering. Other people will even push it back to as late as August if they aren't feeling confident.

About 7 weeks here....We get out the first week of May and 3rd year does not start until 7/5.

9 weeks from last test to clerkship orientation. 4 of those weeks are an "integrated problems" board review course in the mornings with mandatory attendance but no tests. Most people take 7 or 8 to leave at least a weeks vacation before 3rd year.

Interesting to see that there is such a large range. I wonder what the relationship is between time allotted by a school and median score.

I guess we should potentially count our 'shelf/miniboard' time as that is pretty much time spent studying for the boards ... albeit maybe not the same way, or pace, we might study on your own ...

I also find it interesting that some schools require passing Step 1 to start clinical rotations where others do not ...

There is a lot more variability here than I would have thought ....

Our last exam is april 26. the 3 days after is a special program to learn testing strategies. we are required to take step one by june 24, because 3rd year orientation starts on june 27th.

our school usually does pretty well on the the step exams

We have ACLS jammed up our ass two weeks before boards because the school doesn't want to have to recertify us before we graduate. Anyone else get to experience this?
