Technology Free WiFi finders

There seems to be a number of free wifi locator apps out there. Is any one app better than another? It seems like these programs ideally should all be the same, they're displaying free wifi locations yet I see there's a number of different apps out there. I'm assuming one app may have a larger database than another thus providing more locations...?

My real question is why would you need a WiFi finder, when your iPhone tells you which networks are available??? Maybe it's a dumb question, but I seem to be not *getting* something here...

WiFi Finder is an app that lists nearby free WiFi access points with respect to your geographic location (either by street name, zip or GPS location).
