I've been following the boards for a while now, and it's been of great help on making me decide on what to do, and I've seen what's possible, but I figured it's time for my own thread because I really can't come to a conclusion on what I can do.

Now, I'm a computer engineering student and I'll graduate this year, but I've realized that this line of profession really isn't for me, and the school system in my country makes it impossible to change majors without starting all over again, and, as you may have guessed I want to get into medicine 😀

Then I started looking at US med. schools, but I realized it's pretty much impossible to get in with my GPA (2.57 currently, less grade inflation here but still bad), not to mention the lack of pre-med courses in my curriculum (Math and physics are okay but just one introductory biology course and absolutely no chemistry). Now I'm looking at doing an undergrad degree all over again in US, but I really wish there was a way for me to graduate quicker.

So, what do you guys think - do I have other good options I'm not aware of? Is there something I've missed that makes my scheme idiotic?

You can't "start over" with a new GPA here in the US. You will need to report all previous academic work when you apply to med school.

You do, however, have a story behind the low gpa so that if you can take the necessary pre-reqs here and do well, and then also do well on the mcat then you'll have a shot. Your chances will be directly proportional to the effort you put into your application going forward.

Are you in Texas? Texas has academic fresh start where you won't have to post previous coursework or grades but you have to be 10 years out from your coursework. It's explained thoroughly on the TMDSAS website.
