Hey guys I just finished my first year of undergrad with the major biology, at a top 25 school. I'm also on the swim team here at Indiana University. I lined up a shadowing opportunity with a general practice dentist and an oral surgeon.

However my grades this first year were not the best and I'm very stressed. I finished my freshman year with a 3.15 cum gpa, 3.2 bpcm and a 3.15 science gpa. I got a 3.0 first semester and a 3.24 the second.

Please let me know what you think or if you have any advice. Thanks so much

Devote a lot more time to studying and quit the swim team if you don't have enough study time. It won't help your chances as much as a good GPA. Only shadow during your breaks. Try other study methods. Glimmer1991 posted hers here and she did very well in undergrad.

Look into student government/leadership opportunities. Also, see if your school has dental club.

While higher the better, but you want 3.5+ GPA to be prime candidate for good dental schools.
