Was anyone else at the interview yesterday? What are your thoughts about the program?
I thought the interview setup was AMAZING, and the students I met were the most down to earth people I've met at an interview thus far.

I was just accepted today! I had such a great time at the interview. I am so jacked about paying less than $7,000 a year for tuition. Talk about limited debt after graduation!
AND an optional joint 3rd year DPT through UCSF.

So does this mean that you guys don't have to do the pre-professional year? I just remember when I was looking over the curriculum for Fresno's joint program, it was somewhat misleading, as the TOTAL time in the program (if you do the joint DPT) ends up being 4 years, not the anticipated 3. This is because, if you'll notice on their website curriculum page:

There is one pre-professional year, two-MPT years, and one-DPT year (if you decide to go that route).

I just want to point it out, because it is something to consider if you were also accepted to another 3-yr DPT program -- considering you pay UCSF fees for that DPT year, you almost double the expected tuition costs. That combined with an additional year in school is something to consider.

Sorry if I sound lame, it's possible I'm still a bit bitter that CSU Fresno changed the game on everyone. Had I known they were going to do that, I wouldn't have spent the $150 applying to them.

The reason for this is because Fresno will have a DPT program beginning next year and it wouldn't make sense if the entering class in 2012 was studying the same material as the now 2nd year students from 2011. I was unclear on this as well, but all was clarified at the interview.
It's true that the 3rd year would be UC rates ($20,000?), but they also told me that many students are able to practice while they attain their DPT because they've already gained state licensure after MPT. Even with the 3rd year.. $34,000 total is KILLING

PTCAS was $35, then CSUs app was $55 , plus they requested that all transcripts be sent (or maybe I'm just imagining things, I could be confusing them w/ another program). so the $90 + cost of all my transcripts easily brings it up that high.

Hey, I'm not gonna argue there. Getting outta that extra year helps more for the ability to earn money than the amount you go into debt. And yeah, honest truth is I'm a bit bitter, because the only reason I wasn't offered an interview because I would have been missing ONE freaking class for the brand new requirements that they randomly decided to use after the application had been due. I would have happily investigated a way to take this course over the Spring, but Fresno was so set in how they were going to handle this new changeover to DPTs that they didn't even bother suggesting it. It just sucks, because yeah, this was the MOST affordable MPT/DPT program for CA residents, and I was screwed out of a spot because of technicalities. Sorry, that was a rant. It's just frustrating.

I feel ya. I feel the same way towards UCSF because I don't think they really intended on possibly admitting me, yet, they had me drive up and interview. I scored 10 points too low on the GRE, however, they said to come interview anyway. I felt that the interview went great, and left with a great overall feeling. Now they don't even get back to the rejects. Of course they notify the accepted and waitlisted, but without this forum I would have no idea where I stood. Really annoying.

As for the application fees, I just payed the $35 for PTCAS, the supplemental app fee of $55 can be waived by inputing your income, no questions asked. My transcripts were like $2.00 each. Does Berkeley really charge $60 for official transcripts?

Haha, I did put in my income, but apparently I make too much to get a fee waiver. Not quite sure how that works, considering I work as a part-time waitress.

Also, yeah, UCB charges $15/transcript, UCB Extension also charges $15/transcript, and my community colleges charge $4/transcript. Let me tell you, I think I've spent more money on transcripts this year than I have on damn applications :-/

Just wanted to bring this thread back. I just got email receiving an invitation for an interview to CSU Fresno. I'm glad to here the interview set up is well and goes smoothing. But if you don't mind giving me your feed back: what is there to be expected at the interview? Subject and topics of what is discussed or ask? How to prepare? Just go in there ready to have a conversation about PT. You don't need to "know" anything. Just tell them your story.

Also, listen and interact with everyone in your group....show interest. The interviewers are really down to earth; there's no need to try to impress anyone
