What if someone enrolls in a DO school for the first 2 years, then transfers to a caribbean school to get a MD. Is that doable? Is it easy to transfer from a DO school to a caribbean school?

What if someone enrolls in a DO school for the first 2 years, then transfers to a caribbean school to get a MD. Is that doable? Is it easy to transfer from a DO school to a caribbean school?

I don't see how this would be possible:

1. You would just be shooting yourself in the foot because your last two years are clinical so transferring from a DO school with clinical opportunities to a Carib school where you have to fight to get these in the states just wouldn't really work.
2. The dean of the DO school would have to basically write you a letter/give you permission, and wanting to use the DO school for their solid education then transfer to Banana Tree University to use that knowledge to get an MD isn't going to cut it.
3. You'd waste HUNDREDS of hours on OMM and then loose all the credits.
4. You'd be in a weird situation where you'd basically have to take COMLEX and USMLE right away.
5. You would then have to apply for residencies as an FMG (most people agree that residency preferences for US MD residencies go: US MD > DO > FMG).
6. etc etc

This just really wouldn't work. If you want the MD, go to the Carib for the first two years and then do the clinical years in the US. Don't jerk around a DO school like that.

Just go to a Caribbean school and get a MD.
