ok, so I just took my first 2 practice tests on the perceptual ablility and I keep getting a score in the 50th percentile.........thats so bad........I don't know what else to do, should I go through it slowly even though it says to time yourself? I need tips.....I feel like I won't be able to master this. 🙁

do a lot of them over and over, esp. on a computer. Better yet on a computer with crappy .28 dot pitch resolution to simulate the screens you'll be using at the Prometric centers.

I dunno how "studyable" this PAT section is... obviously you can improve your score with practice, but from my own personal experiences as well as seeing others it seems to be largely based on one's natural "mental gymnastics" abilities.

It's the section taht counts the least, so don't worry too much about it.

ya, I keep practicing, it just seems that its all trial and error, another one I just did, I ended up getting 87% on the top front end.......I think there's a lot of luck involved.

a lot of it has to do w/understanding the rules of each subsection. once you understand the rules of the game, practice. do not worry about timing. you will become faster as you get better. after each practice test, go over the answers. try to understand why the answer was not what you chose.

in my opinion the PAT can be the most fun part of the exam. look at it like it's a game. i took the kaplan class, it came with a CD (which i believe is also just with the book--so you don't have to spend all the money on the class--i'd look into that), and the CD was super helpful in visualizing the 3D images. once you get that down, just keep practicing, practice practice practice. on your good sections, make it your goal not to miss any on the practices (that way you can afford to miss them on the harder sections of the PAT)...I hope this helps...and just aim for having fun (if that's possible) and getting the least amount wrong, then the PAT isn't so bad, and your score will increase. Also, i got a totally different score on the actual DAT than I had been getting regularly on practices.
