Not really asking for advice, although any would be wonderful of course 🙂

I did my EMT-B training last winter, and during the training, we spent some hours in the ER assisting the ER techs. I really loved the work, and when I talked to one of the techs, they said that the hospital had hired him right out of high school with no certifications. This made me hopeful that I could find a position as an ER tech after I got my EMT-B license.

I've been looking for months, and no position has been available. Even if it were, I've heard that they no longer hire anyone who isn't a paramedic, and won't accept volunteers. Sigh.

Sorry to hear, jobs are tight everywhere, but I"m sure you'll eventually find someone who will want to utilize your EMT-B training as a volunteer at least.

I hope so. I looked for volunteer positions as well and couldn't really find anything. The Red Cross has some first aid volunteer positions available. It's a start, at least.

Do you still talk to the tech? The best way to get a job is networking. Ask if he can inquire about any future job openings at that hospitalor others in the area.

Dont get frustrated because of job, i know money and experience are very important but just keep looking and enjoy ur life.

Year ago my friend told me about surgical tech courses, but at that time it was already too late for me, i had too many credits in school and didnt want to quit everything... I think its a very good opartunity for students after highschool. Yeah i want to be 17 again....

Volunteer fire departments, and EMS units.

Go with commercial EMS. Some of the easiest money you can make. In my state, they don't hire EMT/Paramedics to work in the hospital unless they have a CNA or RN license.
