I had a UW question today that said if the FSH-receptor is dysfunctional the inhibin B level would be low. Can someone explain this mechanism? My understanding was that Sertoli cells secrete Inhibin when inhibits FSH. Thanks 🙂

Your understanding is correct. FSH binds to the FSH receptor on the Sertoli cells, which then secrete inhibin. High levels of inhibin will negatively feedback on FSH, causing decreased FSH.

If FSH receptor is dysfunctional, then inhibin won't be secreted by Sertoli cells (because they're not binding FSH). Note, however, that the decreased inhibin would cause an increase in FSH.
