I'm taking a full course load right now, but I really want to withdraw from one of my courses.
Do any med schools require you to have a full course load? Do you think having fewer courses would make any admissions committees frown on my application?
I can still withdraw from the course without academic penalty, so it wouldn't appear on my transcript.

Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by full course load? That's an ambiguous terminology and you should define it better in context.

You mean you're taking enough units to be considered a full-time student? Or are you taking a "full-course" load of science classes?

If it's the former, there're about a gazillion reasons WHY you should meet the minimum credit requirement to be considered a full term student for that term. As long as everything else is fine, Med Schools might ask why you were only a part time student and withdrew from a class. Then it's in your ballpark for your reasons.

If it's the latter, med schools do NOT require you take a full courseload of science courses. And in fact, until you're damn well ready too.. DO NOT, it can wipe out your GPA in nothing flat and the adcomm will be shaking their heads. The problem is this, it's okay to try and fail. Yes, you heard me right.. it's okay to fail. If you didn't take risks and but your balls to the walls into the limits of what you can do.. what type of candidate would you be.. what type of PERSON would you be?

The problem lies in making it up.

What does 'balls to the wall' really mean? I know, probably dumb. I always hear people use this saying and it's cool...but i just dont know what it means 🙂 like taking a risk?

Essentially, yes. Means you're going at full tilt.. taking on the universe.. etc etc.

Hello

If it is going to hurt your GPA, then drop it 🙂 That is what you should be worried about.

Hope this helps

I cannot agree with that. If you love your classes and what you're doing.. then DO IT!
