Hi, I am taking only 7 credits this Fall semester and I will be applying to dental school next summer. I would like to know that does being not full time student have any impact on acceptance? I want to take DAT end of the Fall semester which is why I am not taking big load. Thank you

Everything and anything is possible. I was a full time student and on the student council when I was studying for my DAT. I took my DAT 2 weeks after my finals, it was tough and I ended up doing ok.

I can take more classes but I don't want to rush with classes and doing bad on DAT. My GPA isn't that good either so I need to improve my GPA as well as do my best on DAT.

So basically taking 7 credits wouldn't have any impact on acceptance, would it?

Dental schools like to see full schedules with high marks (gives them a better glimpse of how you would perform in D school). However, one part time semester probably wouldnt be a big deal. Just make sure you ACE those 7 credits. You will have no excuse otherwise.

Will they be lenient to a full-time working student that went part-time studies for a few semesters..? I really had no choice in this matter, as I couldn't attend classes because it was during work shifts. And I was supporting my family ..

This is literally the worst part of my application, that my last two years was only a few credits, but I'm afraid that the admissions will see it as laziness although I did list my 4000+ hours of working over 2.5 years..

Sure I believe dental school see your part-time and want to know why you were part time (financial, family issues etc.) but it will not be the biggest issue for them but where you seem like you are lacking you must make up for in other areas. 🙂 good luck 2015 bond
