Greetings,

I am a current United States Navy flight surgeon serving active duty with orders until July 2025. The bureau of Navy medicine has granted me the ability to apply through the SF match for ophthalmology programs to start July 2025. This means Navy ophthalmology needs exceed current DOD in-house training positions (this is called FTOS or Full Time Out-Service). The Navy will retain me on active duty with my sole assignment being completion of residency, I would be non-deployable and would have no drill/reporting obligation besides an annual physical fitness test. I will be fully funded by the DoD and your program would not need to (actually would not be allowed to) pay me.

I am a UFCOM graduate and have completed a transitional year internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as well as US Navy aeromedical officer training. I understand the unique difficulties of finding an open PGY2 position despite the SF Match system and am therefore attempting to fill either a PGY2 Ophthalmology spot for JUL2025 or JUL2026. Please DM me for my credentials.

Thank you for your consideration!
