Fun rotation in NY

I'm looking for a fun away rotation in Manhattan that is something sort of different and interesting. Any one have any ideas?

Tox at Bellevue. Cool, different and you will have plenty of time to enjoy the city.

Trauma at Bellvue. You will see tons of cool trauma, and as mentioned above, have the city.

Transplant surgery at Columbia-Prebyterian might be cool too, although ive only heard secondhand that they do lots of transplants.

I would nix trauma at any place in nyc. Volume is WAAAY down and most residencies send residents out. Lots of slow speed trauma, very little knife and gun.

Oh contraire. I did a month there. I know residents there. Saw zippo knife and gun. minimal trauma.


If you want a really great trauma experience, you need a serious trauma center. Miami, vegas, baltimore, denver.

Besides, the op said FUN! and while trauma is fun, you won't really see a major amount of stuff because you will be wiped! 😉

Bellevue has plenty of Trauma.

I did a month of trauma surgery at Kings County in November and every night on call we were deluged with the most ridiculous traumas. Everything from high speed police chases, drive by shootings, multiple stabbings, and dog bite mutilations. I guess it was a slow month.
