Hi All! I'm a lowly incoming med student whose curious about functional NS. I work in a research lab studying inhibitory cell transplants (which have applications to really cool projects like this).

I saw this thread from ~2010 on here asking why functional isnt more popular. Can anyone provide any insights on how popular functional NS is today? Can one sustain a practice primarily off of functional?

I think a really cool career would entail something along the lines of working at an academic center playing with new tech and therapies (like the one I attached above) primarily doing functional. Ideally, I would want to minimize the amount of call I take too (is this even possible?). Okay with not making as much as PP counterparts. Is this (or something close to this) a possibility?
