Hi,

Does anyone know of any good research oriented MA/MS programs for psychology (hopefully clinical but I am open if it is funded).

Also, did anyone apply to PhD programs only to be declined but offered admission into their MA program? If so, which schools were these at?

Thanks 🙂

Some funded MA programs (these are general/experimental programs) are:
Bucknell
Wake Forest (I've heard they also have a funded, terminal counseling MA as well)
William and Mary
Western Carolina
Mount Holyoke
Montana State
South Alabama

There have been previous threads on this as well; do a search.

As for your second question, I've heard of Eastern Michigan doing this, but don't know of any others, though I'm sure there are some.

I dont think you'll have alot of luck with funded clinical masters programs. Because research is generally not the thrust of the degree/program, im not sure where the money would come from. I think getting a decent TA stipend is about the best your gonna get there. I got a masters at East Carolina before my ph.d program, and they gave a good stipend for TAing. Still had to pay tuition though.

I think there are only a handful of programs in the country that offer a termimal MA and clinical ph.,d program. Sam Houston State and Central Florida off hand.
