Hi all-

I'm starting to hear back about acceptances into PhD programs and I'm hoping someone can give me advice on how to proceed with searching for funding when a program accepts you, but can not fully guaranteed funding through their department. How can one go about looking for funding before accepting their offer? Are there easy ways to search for grants as a Year 1 PhD candidate? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Asking for what guarantees there are, and asking current students is always a good place to start. Asking about potential fellowship and teaching opportunities to offset the costs are also other options. Talking to each professor about getting onto a project grant (work in exchange for funding).
