funniest moment of today: when we had to write the "I hereby..." statement at the beginning, someone asked how to write a cursive 'I' since we had to write the sentence in longhand/cursive. The proctor went to write it on the board and wrote it backwards.

any other humorous events occur today?

Haha, I totally forgot about the cursive stuff until now, but I haven't written in cursive since I had to in like 5th or 6th grade. Hence, my cursive looks awful, as if it was written by a 5th or 6th grader.

2 funny things happened at my site... one kid came in with a newspaper clipping of himself attached to the id card and this other kid had a bag of pencils with him, but they were all #3, so he had to raise his hand and get #2 pencils from the proctor. hilarious.

Hahaha, that's the funniest thing I've heard all day. I needed a laugh.

Someone filled out the scantron sheet for the Writing Section in pen, prompting the proctor to remind us to use a pencil...

When I saw that we had to write the statement in cursive I thought "oh ****." Because one of my friends had to write his essays in cursive on a different exam (not MCAT, cant' remember what) so I was thinking we had to!

i'm slightly concerned now, i should have just did it in cursive and made it illegible instead of not following instructions... but they cant hold it against me if i don't remember how to cursive write from grade 3!

I'm pissed off at my elementary school teachers. They all stressed cursive and that it's all we'd be using as adults. So freakin' wrong. Another thing to add against that MCAT. Did CBT people have to do it? If not, I don't see the problem.

This guy next to me let a loud one rip in the middle of BS. The funny thing is, is that when I walked into the room in the morning I thought he looked hot. Well that atraction quikly blew out the window (no pun intended).

I went to the bus stop around 7:00 to wait on the M60 to catch the 6 train on 125th st. I stood at the stop for like 15 minutes. The bus comes and me being the smart person that I am doesn't have any cash or a MetroCard. I missed that bus and was scared as ****. I then ran into the 116 train station and bought a MetroCard. 5 minutes pass then 10.... another bus finally comes. I made it to the 6 train and thus to Hunter College in time for the exam....tooo ahead.....the Hunter college people did not start the exam until like 9:30am

I can't beleive everyone is upset abvout cursive writing...is that really a dying art. Now i admit my handwriting is half cursive and half print...my own form but really no one remebers cursive writing? 😱

i think it's a dying art. my state passed a bill to keep doctors from writing prescription in cursive... funny, one of my best memories of my old pedia was her beautiful cursive on my prescription. i wanted to be just like her. 🙂

Not sure if MCAT CBT had to do the cursive statement, but probably. I just took my GRE CAT and I had to (nods in agreement and raises hand that her cursive, as well, looks like it belongs to a middle schooler).

all i had to do for the CBT was sign my name every time i entered or left the room. no listening to the instructions or filling out ANYTHING! 🙂

actually, i thought the best part was when the proctor had to read instructions on the writing sample saying, "If you write in a foreign language your test won't be scored...." Oh really?

Are you serious? 😡 What if I did everything in braile? Is that considered "foreign"?

yeah...that got a chuckle out of me as well...i just imagined someone writing it in chinese with all of those crazy symbols...

The reason they make us write a statement in cursive is for (potential)handwriting analysis. If a discrepancy were to arise about your identity, it could be resolved by handwritiing analysis. Cursive writing has more critical points and patterns for comparison than block printing. It's just part of their super security. I doubt it has ever been utilized though.

speaking of cursive writing, are we allowed to write our writing samples in cursive? my cursive is neat, so it's readable. i write cursive much faster than print. so is it allowed? i'll be very disappointed if we had to write in print; the directions definitely didn't mention it.

The essay would take up a lot less space though.

Hey,sorry--- I meant that I didn't write the pledge on the first form in cursive, where it's mandatory, while I did write the essay in cursive which can be written any way (legibly). I wrote in cursive because my cursive is neat and it's faster for me than printing.

I guess it is because I am on the west side and Hunter is on the east side. So, it is kinda hard to get a train going east directly from the west side. The M60 route to the 6 train seemed to be the easiest method for me. I am a lucky soul especially since the exam did not start til 9:30am. 🙂
