I can't believe what happened to me today with Boston University. A little background first....

I sent my application fee to them in September. When I called 2 weeks ago they hadn't received it. I sent it certified mail and the tracking # said it was delivered September 22nd. No big deal, I stopped payment on the first check and sent another. The same thing happened! It got lost somewhere in their office after being delivered. At this point I was pretty frustrated, so today I decided to e-mail the dean of admissions (last ditch effort). I was polite, but said I would not send another check. I was hoping they would find it.

This is the strange part. The dean e-mailed me back a bit later and offered me an INTERVIEW! I'm still in shock. He was very polite in the e-mail and said that my situation hasn't happened before, but he looked over my file and wanted to offer me an interview. All I can say is that the Dean there is awesome. Boston is movin' on up. 🙂

ahh im glad it all turned out well...

now you are gonna see a bunch of people who havent gotten interviews email the dean haha....

"now you are going to see a bunch of people who don't have interviews e-mail the dean"

haha yeah I suppose you are right, but my situation is unique. I feel my application is strong and so I expected an interview anyway. I don't think e-mailing the dean will help most people.

damn... i still can't get over the fact that they rejected me.... 😡

But congrats, ZekeMD. I know a lot of competitive applicants who got flat out rejected by them, so you must feel even more "special." Good luck, man.

After reading this, I decided to e-mail BU last night and ask them if they had received everything they needed from me. I told them that I was worried they might not have received my application fee.

They answered me this morning and told me that my file was under review. A couple of hours later they e-mailed back and offered me an interview!

I think it worked! Zeke, I don't know who you are, but you got me an interview!

They must have just finished reviewing a bunch of files because I just received an invite 3hrs ago. Only I did not email the dean. Ah well. Good luck everyone, I hear Boston is a great city to live in.

Rumor has it that you don't want to walk the streets near the BU School of Medicine at night. Be careful around there.

Yup, BU med is in a bad part of town.

But Boston is still a great city to live in. You don't have to live on campus at BU since you can take the subway (or bus) from nicer parts of town.
