Hello everyone, I went to a technical college after high school (10 years ago) and am curious if those classes count for Dental schools?? I am at a 4 year University now working on getting a degree and my current school did not take transfer any previous classes and I started out with a clean gpa just as any freshman would. My question is do I report this on the application next cycle when I apply? If so will this factor into my gpa I have now? I’m sure this doesn’t get asked much so any help is appreciated. Note this was NOT a community college.

If you're asking if the courses from your technical school will count as prereqs to dental programs the answer is almost certainly no for a few reasons. Most programs want your courses at a four year program, and most importantly, they want your courses to have been taken recently (within 3 years of you applying).

You should email AADSAS to make sure.

Thanks for the responses. I wasn’t planning to use any for prerequisites. One they wouldn’t transfer to my school now, and I also didn’t take any that apply at that school. I’m unsure about the gpa, such as I have a 4.0 currently and I think I had a 3.1 or something like that from the tech school. So I didn’t know if that would turn my 4.0 into like a 3.5 or so?

Most programs don't look at any course work that has been taken outside of a 3-5 year from the time of your application. Therefore, since your former program was so long ago, I honestly think you former program taken 10 years ago wouldn't factor in at all.

AKA the GPA the schools would look at would be your current 4.0!

Thank you for the response I kind of figured they wouldn’t consider it, but I just began stressing over it this week and thought I’d ask people’s opinions.

Source? I completed my BA in 2009, applied this cycle and the ADCOMs from multiple programs definitely took my previous coursework into consideration, even though its close to 8 years old.
