Hi all,

I've been looking into how to attain licensure in Texas as an out of state grad (California). I've noticed there are two ways to possibly do this - either by credential or exam. From what I've been reading, it seems like Texas isn't really open to out of state dentists (i.e. if I go the credential route - then I need at least 3 years of practice experience). Does anyone have any insight or experience with this?

Thanks!

Take a regional exam that Texas accepts and then apply for licensure in both CA and TX when you graduate.

I’m a CA dentist. And I say this with all honestly, if you have an option to move to TX and think you’ll be happy there, you should jump on the opportunity now. You can come back to CA and buy a practice if you decide you don’t like TX. CA is the absolute worst place to be an associate dentist in my opinion, especially if you’re looking at SoCal.

Texas accepts both ADEX and WREB however up to 2020, Only california accepts WREB. you can take Wreb and apply for a license in tx and apply for job here. simple as that

Texas is very much open to out of state grads. Not to mention, loads of benefits to working/living in Texas. No state tax, high income potential, lower cost of living in most areas. TSBDE currently validates scores from ADEX, CITA, CDCA, CRDTS AND WREB. I know of a few practices that are looking for doctors that also help with the licensing process. Let me know if I can be of help in any way 🙂

We have had a couple of useful answers in this thread for the OP-thanks

Please keep on the topic, for political discussions you might find a different place to give & take opinions
seems like silencing is the theme when it comes to speaking about a specific political party on social media
