Can one put an anticipated position in the ERAS app? I will be starting a new volunteer position in a week. I already know what my duties and hours will be. Should I put this or not?

If you think the position is applicable to who you are as a person and to your chosen specialty, then I'd put it. I had a similar situation and I did put mine down.

Also, you'll be starting next week. I doubt any program will even look at your app that closely before then.

Thanks for the reply. I definitely think it is relevant but perhaps I should use this opportunity to find out. The position is at a free clinic serving uninsured people. I am applying in Family medicine and really interested in under-served rural communities. The thing though is that I am only going to be doing admin stuff and not direct clinical duties. So what do you think?
Other input appreciated as well. Thanks in advance!

You're doing admin stuff? Like registering patients and checking them in? That's the equivalent of a job at Wal-Mart.

Would you list your job re-stocking shelves in the "Health and Beauty Aids" section at Wal-Mart as relevant experience on ERAS?

EDIT: I should point out that I don't think this is a worthless experience per se, you'll get a good idea of the "business" aspects of a free clinic. But if you're looking for this to buff your CV, that ship sailed 2 years ago (roughly June of M1 year). At this point it's just "work experience" and largely irrelevant to your application.

I disagree with this. You may just be doing administrative stuff, but the exposure you'll get to underserved individuals is important, especially with a future in family medicine in a rural setting. That isn't the same as being say a clerk at a paper company or stocking shelves at Walmart. Why did you apply for the position? What do you want to get out of it? Focus on that.

I say put it and tie it back into your future goals. Perhaps if it won't work in the experience setting you could try discussing it in your personal statement.
