For those who desire to better understand the profession, I would recommend reading the "Future of Dentistry" report.

It was written for the ADA by dental specialists, with the purpose of its being a practical guide for the dental profession's next generation.

That generation is US!

The book costs $20 in hard format, but you can download it for FREE from the ADA.

The link is: ADA's Future of Dentistry report

I think this is great reading for those who are heading out on interviews in the next couple of months.

Gavin

what a find, started reading' the first chapter, intersting read to say the least.

If any' one hasn't said it, thanks for looking out for the newbies, where would we be without you.

hockeydentist.'

good luck in' your first year of d-school

Thanks for your kind words. I think Yah-E pointed this out to us last year, and somebody probably pointed it out to him the year before, so I'm not taking any credit for it.

We'll all be collegues soon enough, so we'd might as well start sticking together!

BTW, I've found Chapter 6 to be especially good reading.

It focuses on dental education and discusses dental schools, applicant trends, male/female ratios, specialty training, PGY-1 programs, distance education, etc.

Good stuff.
