future of medicine

i have been reading upo on some healthcare articles and it seems like HMO is taking over decisions that physicians should be making and it takes away a doctor's autonomy. Can a practicing physician please write about how they feel about managed care at the moment? Is it really as bad as the articles state? Do you have very little control over how you treat your patient? Will this situation imrove or worsen in the future? If you knew that health care would be as bad as it is would you still have chosen medicine as you profession?

You may want to try somewhere other than just the Pre-Med forum....Although there are some residents that frequent, you will probably get more exposure else where.
