Anyone have any idea where the future of the ophthlamology/optometry feild is heading - what course of study would the newest treatments and procedures and related research likely be centered around -

Mole/cell, genetics, biomed engineering, biophysics, elec engineering, biochem

I know all these play a role together, but is there one area that holds the bulk of the vision science world?
