I just called today to find out if they sent out acceptance/rejection letters yet and I was told that they won't be mailing anything out until the end of April. So for those of us that interviewed in Feb. it looks like another 4 weeks of 😳 waiting. 😱 Good luck to everyone!

I feel like my head's going to explode if I don't find out soon.

I believe it was June (she has a huskier voice than Joan, right?)
She said they thought they would have been able to send the letters out sooner, but now they are not. She didn't clarify the reason. Some possible things that occured to me-maybe they are interviewing more people this year, or maybe the delay has to do with the fact that this is the first year they are looking at the PCAT. Whatever the reason it just means more waiting. (all in all it will end up being about 10 weeks of waiting for me)
I have to say I second the head exploding thing. I like to think of myself as a patient person, but I was so sure that the letters would come this week. Oh well...just hang in there everyone! (maybe we can form a support group

Don't worry. We won't "shoot the messenger" if you tell us the end-of-April timeframe is for real. I haven't worried so much that I've given myself shingles yet. But if we go too far into May without hearing...calamine lotion, here I come.

you actually make the calamine lotion in pharamceutics lab. Mucho pain in the rear!

I talked to admission this morning, and i am afraid that the infomation is correct. they are thinking about sending it our late april. they really haven't told me the details of why but told me it is extremely competitive. i guess they are taking all their time needed to evaluate everything.

Man, I was nervous before...but now I think its even worse. Is it more competitive this year? I wonder how many people they are evaluating for the end of April decisions. I have yet to get shingles, however, I do have a face full of stress acne, inability to sleep or concentrate on anything else but this. I just hope after all this waiting I get good news!

I went to the Temple interview yesterday and yes, they won't send acceptance letters until they finished interviewing. They still have interviews to be done until the end of April. I know some of you guys can't stand waiting but I think it's fair as how could Temple tell who's the most qualified if they don't interview everyone. Just because you get invited to interview early doesn't mean you're more likely to be accepted.

and that is why I like rolling admissions more than nonrolling.

You don't sit there twiddling your thumbs while watching the days tick down until you have to pay another school its deposit....

*twiddle twiddle twiddle* =P

Hmmm. A while ago I was under the impression that the earlier one applied and interviewed, the better one's chances with Temple.

Meanwhile, a friend of mine (also a non-traditional student) told me today that he had received an out-and-out reject letter from Temple late last week. He didn't even get invited for an interview. He DID apply rather late in the game. I don't know what his grades are like.

Temple had its practice or rolling admission as of last year, and if you talk to any of them today, they will still tell you the same. the problem arose this year because 1. tremendous amount of applicants 2. extra thing to review and wait for (PCAT score). i really dont know what they are doing with the PCAT this year since it is the first year they are doing so. my guess is that they required PCAT to decrease the workload of admission people by giving them more qualification to review thus making it easier to decide to grant interview or not, since GPA itself doesn't tell the full story. but i think it back fired this year. but that's my thinking but others may say otherwise.

I think you're right about the PCAT score issue factoring into the delay. Since many of the interviewees took the January PCAT, their scores weren't available to the adcom until after the first three or four weeks of interviews had been conducted. An outstanding PCAT score may have moved some students higher up in the running for receipt of an interview invitation/offer of admission, if their GPAs were borderline.

At least that's what I'm hoping!

From what I know, the assistent dean of admissions says that Temple is looking for at least a 75 percentile on the PCAT. She says they look for 1. GPA, 2. letters of recommendation and then 3. PCAT.

Where does the interviews and essay come in the ranking? And do you know if that 75 percentile mark the exact cut off mark? If i got a lil less than 75% would I be totally out of the race? Even if my gpa and grades, etc were good? They also told me they would be looking at Orgo gpa and grade seperately as well.
Man all becuase of my pcat score i really worry. I wonder what the stats of other temple applicant were.

Don't know where they rank the interview and essay. I went to a couple of pre-pharm workshops at Temple and that's where I found out about the admission criteria. Honestly, I hope they don't count the interview and essay too much; I don't know how well well you can know an applicant if you're interviewing 4 other applicants at the same time. I consider myself lucky that the interviewer was someone I actually met before.

Maybe the delay also has something to do with their paper work. I'm wondering if anyone had the same experience as me. When I went to my interview and the woman went over my file with me, they used some computer program to decided if you had completed pre-reqs or not. That computer print out showed 1.) i didn't have a degree when I have one, 2.) I had taken orgo but not general chem 3.) I had bio 2, but not bio 1 and other irregularities. I'm wondering if they just have a horrible paper-work system, and this is causing the delay. Did anyone eles have this happen to them? just curious.. it sortof threw off my confidence in the school......

Yeah, I had the same experience. The printout said that I didn't have chem 1, chem 2, macro, calc, etc when I have-said I had physics 2, which I am in the process of taking. It almost made me wonder how I even got an interview. But hopefully all the corrections went into their system. I really hope I get in this year because I don't want to go through all this again next year, even though, of course, I will. I am driving my whole family crazy. The worst part is that I am graduating in May and I really hope bad news doesn't come the week before my grad date. I would really hate something that I'm proud of to be inextricably linked with one of my biggest failures. *sigh*

I was told that the letters of acceptance are going out next week (end of April) However, they still don’t know what the PCAT score will be. The lady told me it will be decided next week. I don’t know but I think they might not count the PCATS this year since they cant determine what the score will be. Some people weren’t even able to take the PCATS because in January there weren’t a lot of test centers as well as PCAT examination cancellations. What does everyone else think? I wonder what weighs the most in the application, The separate organic grade, GPA, PCAT, Interview, Essay, applying early? I was told that the interview is just to see if we are able to speak English well because what some people do is have other people go for their interview who are fluent in English and then end up failing out the first semester. Temple is trying to avoid that. Therefore, the interview probably doesn't count much.

I think that they ARE going to count the PCAT this year. I can't imagine that the adcom has much sympathy for applicants who were inconvenienced by the bad weather-related cancellations on the January test date, because from their point of view, everyone had the opportunity to take it on the October & November 2004 test dates. And since they've seen the test scores of the people who *did* take the PCAT before January, unconsciously they may have factored the scores into their decision on those applicants.

for those still waiting...be ready to wait some more. They STILL havent decided on the pcats. What is up with that school? At this rate i think we should all get our letters of admissions or rejections sometime around first week of september. Am i wrong?

My friend had an interview yesterday (April 19), and he said that Dr. Cannon-Babb told his group that they would receive acceptance/rejection/waitlist within 10 days. Let's just hope that this deadline is actually final 👍

I'm kind of undecided. Temple certainly has location in its favor, as well as "brand" recognition (despite the recent Cosby/Temple-related news stories) and networking opportunities in the Philadelphia region. But if I don't get into Temple, I'm sure as hell not waiting another year to start school.

I don't blame you! Well, whatever happens with Temple at least you will be going somewhere this fall and you won't have to relocate out of state. Hopefully we really will know what's up with Temple by the end of the month at the latest.

I had an interview at Temple on Monday 4/18. The lady who interviewed us said that they are not sure how they will use the PCAT (ie. minimun score...)

She said that some people have C's in their science courses and 90's on their PCATS... Therefore, they are not sure if the PCAT scores will determine how well you will do in pharmacy school.

They will have answers by the end of this month.

HCP.
