hey guys,

are we expected to know all of the solubility rules? also, are we expected to know the latin names of certain elements?

Hey not sure if you have KBB but it has a great table on pg. 274 for solubility rules. Not sure if you'll need it on the test, but it only takes a bit of time to memorize the table and it could save you a few pts. What I do is make 2 columns, 1 with soluble and 1 with insoluble and then write the exceptions to each rule on the opposite column. So for instance if it's Br/Cl/I I'll put that on the left soluble column, followed by a smiley =), then put Ag/Pb/Hg on the right adjacent to it with a =(

yes solubility is testable.

quick and dirty

nitrates, acetates, chlorates, and ammonium salts are soluble

group 1 and 2 compounds are soluble

ag, hg, pb are insoluble

this will get you 95% correct, with very little memorization
