Gametophyte reproduces sexually - it does mitosis and those haploid gametes from mitosis combine to form a diploid individual. Sporophytes reproduce asexually - they are diploid - do meiosis and those haploid gametes become the gametophyte generation. Alternation of generations - nice ring to it! Upvote 0 Downvote
