So I didn't officially decide until last year that I wanted to go to medical school. I had basically zero experience up until that point that is relevant to medical school until this past year and I want to know how my stats are considering I didn't start getting relevant experience until recently. Is that a red flag on an application?

Current experience:
- around 1300 hours as a patient care tech in an emergency department doing blood draws, ekgs, cpr, splinting, and dealing with good ole 'rona patients (started January 2020)
- around 400 hours working with people with disabilities and helping them participate in the community (started August 2019)
- about 170 hours of teaching as an anatomy and physiology lab TA, organic chemistry TA, and a private tutor for math and SAT
- clinical research 40hrs/week starting August 2020

I just started a full-time job in clinical research for a COVID-19 vaccine trial. I don't really have volunteer experience. I volunteered like 8 hours last year through Gigi's playhouse and I started that again with tutoring and helping out an after school program this fall. I'm a certified EMT and am part of a volunteer ambulance (just started this month) but I don't know if I have time to dedicate to that (they require 20 hours a month) while working two jobs with overtime. Is it worth it be a volunteer EMT to have volunteer experience? Is 3 hours a week enough at Gigi's playhouse to check that volunteer box (and I genuinely like being there so it's not just some mundane volunteering)?

My GPA isn't fantastic (3.63 in a BS in biomedical sciences in Dec 2019 which ends up being around a 3.56 after calculating in me transferring colleges). I haven't taken the MCAT yet but am studying for January 2021. I have taken human gross anatomy which I think is a big advantage since that's such an intense first year med student class and got a B+.

Basically what can I do in the time I have until June 2021 to enhance my application? I know I need to find time to shadow, but should I do more volunteering (and does it need to be clinical since both my jobs involve direct patient care/interaction)? How "good" of a medical school can I get into with these stats?

IMO, clinical hours are clinical hours so continue working as a patient care tech. Right now you're checking off most "boxes" as a pre-med, just get in some shadowing hours and you're solid.

If you have time (with emphasis on IF), take some science courses and maintain an upward trend. A 3.56 GPA isn't bad and there many students that get into schools with that GPA, but 3.6 opens up a lot more doors.

It's hard to figure out your school list without an MCAT. I'll leave the hypotheticals to someone else more knowledgeable.
