For those people that are writing gap year essays, how long are they usually? Honestly I'm continuing all that activities on my AMCAS and plan on shadowing a few more physicians along with a new job. I cant see myself taking up more than 3-4 sentences to explain this. Is it to short or should I go into details on my job and stuff?

Lol, literally one to two sentences. There isn't a good way to analyze "chillin' in Cali with the surfer bros and the homies while I work and take some time off."

You should also make sure to include WHY you are doing what you plan to do.

For almost all the secondaries I have completed that asked about gap years there was only room for 4-5 sentences. I didn't generally have any room to explain WHY I was doing what I was doing. In addition you may not really have a reason WHY you are taking a job other than you have to pay the bills, and it probably not necessarily to explain this. That being said if you have a compelling reason for doing something then if you have the space definitely work it in. I also had a lot of continuing activities and did not explain why I was continuing them since I felt my primary was pretty clear about why they were important to me.

Guess working for the dolla bills wont be a good reason.

If you need money to live/apply, then I think is is not a bad reason at all.
