Hello,

I have a quick question , I am currently applying right now to DO schools and have my gap year next year where I plan to continue to volunteer as well as work In the hospital. Do I include those hours, if so how do I put it to clarify I have not yet completed them?

Thanks

I'm just gonna put this out there; your question does not exactly make sense. Your gap year is THIS year, or you should not be applying / are applying for the wrong class.

If what you are trying to say is that you are applying currently for a seat in the class of 2020 and this is in fact your gap year, then what generally is advised is to put the hypothetical end date, and explain in large part what you are doing, and in small part that you expect more hours / haven't completed volunteering.

However, do NOT put on there that you have not yet volunteered for 'x' put you plan on doing so.

I’m sorry I didn’t not clarify, I am applying for class of 2020 and just graduated undergrad. Therefor I will have a gap year this year.

Submit the current hours you have. If you need to give an update in December/January, its a thing to mention when you "update" medical schools on what you are doing. Plus it gives you a reason to email some schools to see where you at in their application process.
